William Jennings Bozell born May 3, 1889, was the son of Thomas and Emily Conaway Bozell. William was the youngest child to this union and was a very small boy when his father passed away in 1897. His mother had the task of raising him alone with the help of her other children. William was schooled in the one room schoolhouse northeast of Atlanta, Indiana, where his uncle Lewis was Trustee of Cicero Township. He enjoyed cars, motorbikes and fishing. He was a handsome lad! He was united in marriage to Clara Sloan on August 19, 1914, from Ohio. They had a total of eight children, three died at early ages. William Walter died in 1919, Delmas Fenton died after a fire destroyed the homestead east of Atlanta, Indiana, in 1927. Mrs. Bozell died during childbirth in 1929. The infant son did not survive. The surviving children were Denzil Holly, Mary Jean, Rene Thomas, Adeline and JoAnn. William Bozell had the task of raising his young children motherless with the help of his older children, Denzil, and Mary Jean. William Jennings remarried on September 11, 1942, after his children reached adulthood to Elizabeth McNew, and was married to her until his death on August 8, 1965. He was employed with the Ohio Oil Company for over 30 years and retired in 1955. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elwood, Indiana. The funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church in Elwood, Indiana, and William Jennings Bozell was laid to rest at the Brethren Cemetery in Arcadia, Indiana, alongside his first wife Clara, and their two sons.
