My interest in genealogy began after returning from our first visit to my husband's ancestral homeland, Ireland. Shortly after that trip, I accepted an invitation to attend a genealogy course at our local library and needless to say, I have been hooked ever since. I have been actively researching both our family histories for the past eight years and have completed a book on Pat's paternal family, the Donahues.

The origin of my family, the Boswells/Bozells, seems to be of French and Irish descent. I have traced the roots of this tree back to colonial Virginia with early ancestors setting foot on this native soil as early as 1665. The Society of Indiana Pioneers has certified that Deborah Bozell Donahue is a direct descendant of Ezekiel Bozell of Bartholomew County, 1824.

I recently completed research on my maternal Kirkpatrick family of Scotch/Irish heritage dating back to early 1700's. This family migrated from Scotland settling in Ireland before migrating to America in Cumberland County Pennsylvania. The Champaign County Genealogical Society presented Deborah Bozell Donahue the Pioneer Certificate in honor of James Kirkpatrick. James was a settler of Champaign County, Illinois on or before the year 1848.

Pat's maternal Campbell family were also of Scottish heritage migrating to America from Paisley Scotland in the 1800's. This family settled in Massachusetts and Connecticut before relocating to Wisconsin.

"It is really wonderful to realize that our mental make-up and even our physical structure is a composite of all those before us whose genes we carry", wrote a distant cousin of mine.

My next venture was to trace the travels of the Kirkpatricks from the barony of Colquhoun, Dumbartonshire Scotland to the rich farmlands of Indiana.

The final tale of our history concludes with a look at the Campbells, early settlers on this Nations eastern seaboard and how they gravitated to Wisconsin.

As with any genealogist, this hobby becomes an obsession which then becomes a life's work; only the concentration seems to vary! If you have any data to share or inquiries I could answer, I would love to hear from you. This project would not be at it's current level without the help and support of numerous persons who so willingly contributed towards these efforts. My grateful thanks to all of you!
